Each time I visit London, there is always something new to explore, but I make it a priority to treat myself to a fun, sweet experience each trip. If you’re feeling a cool and creamy treat on a hot summer afternoon or a classic favorite with your morning coffee, this list will have something for you. But I recommend trying them all, of course.
Cool and creamy: Yolkin
There is nothing better on a hot London day than a macaron ice cream sandwich from Yolkin. Yep, you read that right. Macaron. Ice Cream. Sandwich. This small batch ice cream shop started with a love for baking macarons. The light and airy treat only uses egg whites, so what do you do with all the yolks? You make ice cream, folks.
From their website: “Why the name, Yolkin? Well, had she never looked for a recipe to use the yolks in, she would’ve never discovered Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches!”

Classic: Bread Ahead
They say if you haven’t done Bread Ahead then you haven’t done London. I can’t remember where I heard that, but I still believe it. Bread Ahead is on a mission to bring quality baking to the masses, which you can enjoy by taking one of their classes or visiting one of their shop locations. Grab a classic treat like a cinnamon roll, stuffed donut, or pain au chocolat with your latte and take a seat. Preferably in the golden throne in their Soho location.
Magical: Cutter & Squidge
Can’t decide if you want cake or a biscuit (aka cookie in the US)? You can have the best of both with a biskie from Cutter & Squidge. A biskie is a crisp, soft, chewy, cakey, and creamy sandwich treat filled with lightened buttercream, handmade jams, caramels and other delights. This dessert is magical on its own, just take a look at the photo below, but if you want to wingardium leviosa–which means levitate for you muggles–your experience, buy a ticket to the potion room.

Bubble waffle: Nosteagia
Fluffy, messy, and delicious–the bubble waffle. There are a few different places that offer this London treat, but I always head to Nosteagia in Shoreditch. You can fill your bubble waffle with any combination of fruit, cream, candy, caramel, nutella, and ice cream. Grab extra napkins for this one. Your bubble waffle may end up all over you, but it’s absolutely worth it. With a friend that doesn’t want a bubble waffle? Does that kind of friend even exist? No worries, they offer bubble teas as well.
Which one is your favorite? And what new treat should I add to my list next time I visit London?!
